Bathroom remodeling checklist

Use this before requesting bathroom remodeling price: fixtures, tile, ventilation, storage, repairs, photos, access, timing, budget range, and terms.

Bathroom Prep

Small room. Many details.

Bathroom requests get clearer when fixture expectations, surface changes, ventilation, repair concerns, and access details are organized first.

Fixtures and storage

List fixture changes and storage expectations before the first estimate conversation.

  • Vanity, sink, faucet, toilet, tub, shower, and mirror expectations
  • Fixture locations that stay versus locations being considered for movement
  • Storage, shelving, towel bars, accessories, and hardware expectations
  • Any accessibility, comfort, or daily-use concerns

Tile and surfaces

Surface choices affect scope, timing, and finish-level expectations.

  • Tile, surround, flooring, paint, trim, and ceiling expectations
  • Water marks, cracking, soft spots, ventilation concerns, or visible damage
  • Matching requirements for adjacent rooms or existing finishes
  • What should be repaired, replaced, protected, or left alone

Photos and access

Bathroom photos should show each wall, every fixture, and any access constraints.

  • Doorway photo plus each wall, floor, ceiling, vanity, toilet, tub, and shower
  • Close-ups of plumbing access, ventilation, tile, flooring, trim, and damage
  • Stairs, hallway, doorway, parking, and work-path constraints
  • Rough room and fixture measurements if available

Timing and budget range

The first message should include constraints that shape schedule and scope.

  • Preferred timing and any deadline constraints
  • Occupied-home concerns, access limits, pets, parking, and work-hour restrictions
  • Budget range or decision ceiling if one exists
  • Who approves scope, fixtures, schedule, and estimate terms
